WishTel Ira Icon MID M801 Tablet Review

WishTel Ira Icon MID M801 Tablet Review

The WishTel Ira Icon MID M801 has a rugged metal shell with a glossy front panel and a silver coloured aluminium back panel. The tablet is 14mm thick and weighs 605gm. It runs on Android 4.0 ICS, and is powered by a 1.2GHz ARMv7 CPU and a GC800 GPU from vivante corporation. It has 1GB of RAM with 8GB of on board storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD cards. The display is a large 8-inch TFT LCD touchscreen  with a resolution of 768×1024 pixels. The front panel has a 2MP one. Connectivity options are Wi-Fi,3G (SIM card), Bluetooth, mini USB interface for USG OTG, a micro SD card slot and a mini HDMI port.

The 5500mAh battery claims to last for three to four hours of maximum usage. Bundled with the product is a pair of earphones, a travel charger, a mini USB PC interface cable, an OTG cable and a sleeve. The tablet UI is quite sluggish. At times it would work flawlessly, but it tends to lag upon heavy usage. We noticed during our testing that although the tablet is said to be equipped with a 1.2 GHz processor, it is clocked at 1GHz . This makes us wonder if the CPU really is a 1.2 GHz processor or actually is a 1GHz CPU marked with higher speeds to increase sales. Though there is a GPU powering the graphics, the tablet’s interface is sluggish compared to other tablets with similar specs.
