Hot on the heels of ubuntu for phones. Canonical has shown off a version of the popular Linux distribution designed specifically for tablets. The announcement completes a family of Ubuntu operating system for phones, Tablets, PC’s and TV’s. The demo was run on a Nexus 7 tablet, and a downloadable preview is also available, although commercial products are unlikely to be available until after Ubuntu phones launch in mid-2014. Canonical promises that apps designed for Ubuntu will work across all four device categories and as an added twist, tablets and pc’s will have the ability to run multiple phone sized apps side by side. The company is focusing on Ubutu’s multitasking abilities, multiple user accounts, voice control and customizations available to carriers and ODM customers.
