What is the best way to send a large file to your colleague or a client? Emails allow you sending up to 6MB, but what should you do when you have a larger file? Send one-to-one files:
Online services like YouSendIt, SendGenie or WeTransfer offer a cheap way of transferring data online. All you need to do is to upload a file online and share the link with recipients. These websites are great for small scale businesses.
Cyberlockers like MegaUpload, RapidShare or Hotfile allow you to share files by simply uploading them and sending a link. Only a person who has the link can access the files. You don’t need to install any software to use cyberlockers. All you need is to archive a file though WinRar or WinZip, create a password for protection, upload the file and send a link. Some people use cyberlockers to illegally share copyright materials. Their actions caused some problems followed by an arrest of the MegaUpload founder. Nonetheless, cyberlockers are popular as never before. Even if one website will be shut down, plenty of others would appear.
If you’re looking for something more business oriented you should consider using Google Apps for Bussiness, Zoho or Microsoft Office 365. If you are already familiar with Microsoft Office products then Office 365 would be perfect for you, even though it is a bit costly. Zoho is a cheaper alternative that is compatible with various Google Apps and Microsoft Office. However, if you use Microsoft Outlook then Zoho would not be optimal for you as it works only with Zoho mail service.
