Job postings by Microsoft on its own website describe windows Blue as a product that builds upon and improves Windows 8’s core experience features, including the “start screen application life cycle, windowing and personalization”. One of the postings referred to Windows Blue while the other specified Windows Phone Blue. Both have since been removed from Microsoft website. “Blue” was initially thought to be the codename for a strategy of mid life-cycles refreshes of windows 8 across all platforms. Much like mobile device manufacturers currently do. Microsoft has indicated that it will release yearly updates to all its products including windows server, office and web properties such as skydrive and outlook.com rather than release major new versions every few years. It is not known if the company will change its version naming schemes or how these updates will bee priced and released.
