Datawind Ubislate 7R – A Low Budget Tablet

The Datawind Ubislate 7Ri is a 7-inch Android tablet that has a glossy black plastic body. The left side sports the stereo speakers while the right side has the power button, an audio jack, a microSD card slot, a micro USB PC interface and OTG slot and a power jack. It runs Android 4.0 ICS powered by a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor with a MALI-400 GPU,512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. The display is a resistive touch 7-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 800×480 pixels. The 7Ri has a mattle-finished surface for the display screen, which makes using the tablet easy despite the resistive touchscreen. The user interface is smooth. But it tends to get a bit sluggish at times.

We threw a few standard definition, 720p and 1080p videos at the tablet and it played them flawlessly. The built-in stereo speakers were disappointing-they have a very low output and are not as clear. The DataWind Ubislate 7Ri is available for Rs 3499, which we think is a good price for those seeking a super-budget Android tablets to begin with. Apart from the resistive touchscreen, the tablet features almost identical hardware spefications as that of the Ubislate 7CI,which is available for Rs 4499.
