7 Tips To Speed Up A Slow iPad or iPhone

An iPad is known for its look, great performance and speed. However just like any other computer, or tablet to be precise, the iPad can get slow with use and not perform as fast as it once used to. Following are some tips using which you can make your iPad run as fast as it used to.

1. Reboot Your Device

Certain applications just cling on to the system memory and thereby slow down the device. If closing the application does not work then you can always reboot the iPad and start everything afresh.

2. Free Some Space

Ideally, any computer or tablet must have good amount of free space for maximum performance. One however is always tempted to add more and more videos and songs as the iPad provides one of the best multimedia experiences. Check how much FREE memory is available in your iPad and make sure that there is some extra memory available with the iPad.


3. Clear the browser cache

Cache files clutter up every time you surf on the internet. These files can accumulate to consume a lot of memory and slow down your device. If you constantly use internet then make it a habit to delete the browser cache.

4. Delete unwanted applications

There are thousands of applications available for just about anything, right from entertainment to productivity. Naturally one gets tempted to collect as many of these applications and games to have a first-hand experience of these applications. However these application and especially games can consume a large amount of memory and hence it is good to delete the applications and games which you won’t be using.

5. Delete messages

This can be hard as many people like to save messages for either memories or for the data. These messages however cumulate to consume a great amount of space eventually and hence it is best to delete messages as you go. You can store the messages in your computer or in iCloud instead of storing in your iPhone.

6. Update iPad’s firmware

Apple constantly releases firmware updates for both iPad and the iPhone. The firmware updates include bug fixes as well as come with some new features for better performance of your device. Hence update you iPhone or iPad as soon as update is available for it. However make sure that you are updating your device on a fast and reliable connection and you have backup of important data as connection failure during firmware update can cause problems to the device and you may have to reset it again.

7. Restore your iPad or iPhone

If your iPad is running really slow and you are unable to find any valid reason for the same, then the best thing to do is to restore your iPhone or iPad. Also make sure that you have taken a backup of all the necessary data before you take this final step.

A point of caution here is never use defragmenting applications with your device as the iPad or iPhone comes with flash memory and not hard drive as in computers.
