Symantec’s annual cyber crime report has thrown up a few statistics about Indian mobile users. While 73 percent download apps only from trusted sources,29 percent don’t use pass codes to secure their devices. Nearly a third of all respondents don’t have any way to lock, locate or wipe their phones if necessary, and just under a quarter are not aware that such mobile security measures exist.
On the positive side, 73 percent never save important personal information on their smartphones, 69 percent limit the sites they visit, and 59 percent disable geolocation features. However, 53 percent of users have lost their devices or had them stolen or at least once, but only 22 percent tried to use tracking software to find them.
